Well, this has been one heck of a week in writing. I started last sunday spending about eight hours glued to the keypad, with a couple of bathroom breaks and a meal somewhere in there. The next day, I kept going, and the day after that. The longest day I spent twelve hours nearly solid writing, with about ten thousand words to show for it.
Now, I don’t usually focus on word count, but I don’t know how else to express just how incredible this week has been. Let’s just say that Book II has come together, in a big way. Most of what happened to the characters in the last few chapters surprised, saddened, and amazed me even as I was writing it. All through out the process of writing this book I’ve been concerned that Book II wouldn’t have a strong enough climax, because a lot of the events at the end of Book II bleed into Book III.
I’m not worried about that any more. Dream of a City of Ruin will have a dramatic, satisfying end on all accounts, while leaving room for the story to lumber forward. I can say no more, at the risk of ruining it for everyone.
I’m going back to my day job today, so won’t be writing again until Tuesday. But I’m not worried. I have two scenes left to write and then a series of short interludes, like Maia’s scenes in Dream of a Vast Blue Cavern. I’m particularly excited to finish because I can’t wait to re-read what I’ve written. Yep, it’s that good.

Yay! Can’t wait to read it!
I missed this post when you first put it up, but I am TOTALLY impressed. Who needs NaNoWriMo if you can put 50k words together in a week? You go, girl!
Thanks Sabine!!! I did have two weeks off from my day job. This is what my life would be like without a day job!!! Maybe. Probably I would just spend more time on facebook.
